This year marked my sixth time attending Fira B!, the performing arts market of the Balearic Islands — and somehow each edition feels more dynamic than the last.
For anyone who hasn’t been, Fira B! is one of the Mediterranean’s key meeting points for artists, presenters, festivals, labels, and industry professionals. Part showcase festival, part business hub, it brings together Balearic talent and international creators for three days of concerts, conversations, and collaboration.
The music programme this year was wonderfully diverse — jazz, contemporary, folk, indie, electronic, and everything in between. I caught an inspiring mix of international acts as well as exceptional local artists from across the Islands. That blend is what makes Fira B! special: world-class talent alongside emerging voices rooted in the Balearics’ cultural fabric.
A personal highlight was leading a panel discussion titled “Widen Your Fanbase and Engage the Fans You Have.” It was a great chance to bring together perspectives from across the industry to talk trends, challenges, and the future of our creative ecosystems. The discussion was lively, thoughtful, and — in true Fira B! fashion — grounded in real experience.
This was also the first year One Jazz broadcasted live from the festival on Friday and Saturday, featuring music from Spain and the Islands, showcase artists, interviews, and the festival’s buzzing atmosphere.
I feel incredibly fortunate to have been invited back so many times — it’s genuinely a highlight of my year. Fira B! is a hub for real discovery: artists find new stages, promoters find new ideas, and as a broadcaster, I discover new bands and musicians. Each year, the professional programme deepens with more conversations, more opportunities, and more collaboration.
But above all, Fira B! remains a place where the industry gathers with purpose, curiosity, and a shared openness to building something new together.
Six years in, Fira B! still feels fresh.
Still inspiring.
Still essential.
